Meet the artist Hannes Egger

Hannes Egger incontra il pubblico per un dialogo a più voci attorno alla sua nuova opera performativa, Second Skin, presentata in occasione della terza edizione di BAW – Bolzano Art Weeks, a cura di Lottozero.

All’interno di una riflessione più ampia sulle dinamiche di mercato del vintage, Hannes Egger costruisce un dispositivo performativo che indirizza lo sguardo sull’indumento, innescando una riflessione sulle tracce di vissuto che lasciamo attraverso di esso e sulle dinamiche di appropriazione e identificazione che si instaurano. Hannes Egger isola questo istante, ne codifica i gesti e li evidenzia con l’essenzialità e la nitidezza del suo linguaggio performativo, che qui si confronta con il sistema di mercato del vintage, approfondito durante un periodo di residenza a Lottozero a Prato e indagato come fenomeno di storia economica degli ultimi cinquant’anni.

Completa il progetto espositivo una collezione di oggetti trovati, recuperati nelle tasche di abiti poi immessi nel circuito del vintage: concrezioni di vite passate che raccontano per frammenti storie personali e costumi sociali, a testimonianza di quanto l’indumento sia, essenzialmente, un vettore di esistenze.

Hannes Egger (1981, Bolzano) ha studiato filosofia presso l’Università di Vienna e"La Sapienza" di Roma. La sua pratica artistica è legata a un approccio essenzialmente concettuale volto a coinvolgere e interagire con il pubblico, attraverso performance, installazioni e progetti partecipativi che invitano le persone ad adottare un atteggiamento o un punto di vista insolito, al fine di riflettere sulla realtà che ci circonda e sul modo in cui condividiamo gli spazi che abitiamo. Hannes Egger spesso fornisce delle coordinate o delle istruzioni da seguire, trasformando così l'azione del partecipante nell'opera d'arte stessa.

Hannes Egger meets the public for an interactive dialogue around his new performance work, Second Skin, presented on the occasion of the third edition of BAW - Bolzano Art Weeks, curated by Lottozero.

Within a broader reflection on vintage market dynamics, Hannes Egger builds a performative device that directs the gaze to the garment, triggering a reflection on the traces of experience we leave through it and the dynamics of appropriation and identification that are then established.

Hannes Egger isolates this instant, encodes its gestures and highlights them with the essentiality and sharpness of his performative language, which here confronts the vintage market system, explored during a residency at Lottozero in Prato and investigated as a phenomenon of economic history of the last fifty years.

Completing the exhibition project is a collection of found objects, retrieved from the pockets of clothes then placed in the vintage circuit: concretions of past lives that tell by fragments personal stories and social habits, testifying how much the garment is, essentially, a vector of existences.

Hannes Egger, born 1981 in Bolzano (I), studied philosophy at the University of Vienna and at the "La Sapienza" in Rome. The artistic practice of Hannes Egger is linked to an essentially conceptual approach aimed at engaging and interacting with the public. His performances, installations and participatory projects invite people to adopt an unusual attitude or viewpoint, in order to reflect on our surrounding reality and the way we share the spaces we inhabit. Egger often provides some coordinates or instructions to follow, and thus turns the action of the participant into the artwork itself.
