Sat Naam
When practising and teaching kundalini yoga or any other type of traditional yoga, we are faced with the postures that the body must assume: the asanas.
It is therefore useful to explore what they are, what effects they have, and how our systems, including the nervous system, and our biochemistry react to their practice.

ASANA beyond perfection
How postures affect psychophysical balance, strength, the health of vital systems and spiritual development
With
Jiwan Shakti Kaur
Asana is traditionally defined as the sitting position used for meditation, from the Sanskrit word meaning “sitting”.
The term is now commonly used to refer to any physical position found in all styles of yoga practice.
In Sanskrit, asana is often used as a suffix in the name of a position. Although asana is now the most popular aspect of yoga, it is considered only a small part of the yoga tradition as a whole. It is the third of the eight limbs of Patanjali's yoga, following the yamas and niyamas and followed by pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.
In the illusion of the “perfect” position, we often lose sight of the path to achieving it, to the extent that it is possible, to the extent that the body allows. And thus all the complexity of who we are (history, thoughts, beliefs, tensions, problems, imbalances, flexibility, etc.).
The practice of asanas is considered important because it helps to keep the physical body healthy. Since the body is the vehicle of the soul, taking care of the physical body is essential for spiritual development.
Asana postures help increase flexibility and strength while stimulating the body's physiological systems, such as the circulatory, immune, digestive and nervous systems.
Regular practice of asanas develops awareness, discipline and concentration, preparing the mind for pranayama and meditation. On a more subtle level, asanas can help stimulate the energy body, opening the chakras and nadis to allow prana to flow freely.
In kundalini yoga, they are combined into effective sequences, called kriyas, which have specific objectives and are related by specific timings, mudras, sounds and durations.
Come and experience, amplify and relax in the practice of asanas during this weekend dedicated to practitioners, teachers in training and professional teachers. For anyone who wants to go beyond the pursuit of external perfection of posture towards internal perfection made up of mental and spiritual strength, openness to change and emotional space that allows the asana to work within us.
